About FUE:
- Follicular unit extraction (FUE) is the newer type of hair transplant that is done by taking individual hair follicles from one area (usually the back of the head) and moving them to another part of your body where there is less density (or bald)
- FUE has become a lot more popular than the follicular unit transplantation (FUT) procedure, which had some major issues with scarring etc
- In this method, hair transplant surgeons use Titanium micro punches to extract follicle grafts (Each follicle graft can have between 1-4 hair) and move them, leaving behind almost no scars or signs of extraction
How safe is FUE?
- The FUE procedure is very safe with minor side effects, such as tiny white scars where follicles were extracted. In extremely rare cases, there can be an infection
- You will experience temporary side effects for a few days after treatment. Side effects may include swelling, bruising, and sensitivity.
Convenience:
- FUE is often done in multiple sessions over the course of several days. In rare cases, a “mega session” may last 10 to 12 hours. This depends on various factors that will be discussed by Dr Sreekar Harinatha during your consultation
- FUE is an outpatient procedure, so you can typically go home on the same day
- You don’t have to interrupt your daily routine too much after FUE. You can actually do your computer work the next day (though taking a break is recommended)
Cost:
- Hair transplants typically cost Rs.35 per graft (plus 18% GST) at Contura Clinic
- The cost can vary widely based on how much hair is being transplanted and from where
Effectiveness:
- Hair transplanted into a new area of your body typically begins growing back in about 3 to 4 months.
- You can expect about 80 percent of the transplanted hair to grow back in 4 months and the remaining later on
